Event: High School Skin Screening Program 2010

Location: Montclair High School, Montclair New Jersey
Description: Free skin cancer screening for all high students, teachers and staff. Coordinated through the Montclair High School chapter of the Ray Festa Melanoma Foundation. Skin cancer screening provided in private individual cubicles by volunteers from the medical staff of The Dermatology Group of Northern New Jersey. Educational materials and demonstrations conducted on how to Live SunSmart.
Recap: Over 500 individuals were screened for skin cancer by a medical professional. Several people screened were recommended to their family doctor or dermatologist for further evaluation of a mole found. Pre and post survey of those in attnedance showed a siginificant increase in skin cancer prevention and awareness, sun safety and how to Be a player on Team SunSmart.
